London, Dec 10 (ANI): England wicketkeeper Matt Prior has said the squad wants to keep breaking records and leave a legacy for the future.

Prior said the players have spoken about becoming one of the all-time great teams alongside the West Indies of the 1980s and Australia of the 1990s.

“In this team, we try to target records - it’s great to be part of a team that keeps ticking off records. We speak a lot about individual achievements but every member of this team would love to be part of an English legacy,” The Sun quoted Prior, as saying.

“We want to be a team that does things differently and wins games that maybe we wouldn’t have won in the past,” he said.

“You look at the best teams in history, the ones that have been good not just for a year or two but for a generation. You go back to the West Indies in the 1980s and the Aussies in the 1990s,” Prior said.

“You look at how they dominated world cricket. If you could be part of a team like that, it would be amazing. For me, that would be the biggest achievement of all,” he added.

Prior said the team’s success is down to practice, preparation and a strong team spirit.

“The thing about breaking records started when we won a one-day series in West Indies last year for the first time in many years. Then we beat Australia in a Test at Lord’s for the first time in 75 years. England won the World Twenty20 - our first victory in a global tournament,” he said.

“To be part of a team that does things that have never or seldom been done before is very special. Even in Adelaide this week, our total was the highest total by an England team in Australia since the 1920s,” Prior added. (ANI)
