Johannesburg (South Africa), Dec.2 (ANI): England have been told to milk star footballer David Beckham for all he is worth if they want the 2018 World Cup.Beckham is to meet the 24-man FIFA executive committee, which will decide England’s fate next year.
And FIFA president Sepp Blatter says Beckham’s role will be vital if they are to achieve success.
The Sun quoted Blatter, as saying: “They have to use him for everything, forever. If they don’t they are not very intelligent. I’ve been working in FIFA for 35 years and I know a good guy for big occasions. He’s one of the most important figures in football. He has a personal charisma that very few players have. He’s a great man. Perhaps he is not the best player in the world but he is a good guy and he is also the best ambassador for fair play in football.”
Beckham will be helping with the World Cup draw on Friday alongside the likes of Academy award-winner Charlize Theron and former Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie. And Blatter hopes Becks will be back in South Africa in June to play for his country. (ANI)
