England confident before Mohali TestDecember 17th, 2008 - 5:14 pm ICT by IANS
Mohali, Dec 17 (IANS) The unexpected defeat against India in the first cricket Test notwithstanding, England Wednesday said it will go into the second match here Friday with a positive frame of mind.”Chennai was warm and humid. The playing conditions were difficult. Things are different here. We are very confident and will take the game in a positive frame of mind. We have learnt a lot of things from the first Test,” England’s wicketkeeper Matt Prior told reporters after his team’s first practice session at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium here.
Prior said his team’s aim was to “first and foremost get runs”.
The England keeper confirmed captain Kevin Pietersen’s rib injury but said he will play in the Test.
“Kevin will play this match despite the rib injury. He sustained that during the fifth one-day international against India. He is in top form.”
Prior said England had practiced the reverse swing delivery during their stint in Abu Dhabi.
“Reverse swing always plays a big role in India and we have practised keeping that in mind,” he added.
