England bowling attack is superior than Australia: Butt
August 1st, 2010 - 5:51 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Aug 1 (ANI): Pakistan captain Salman Butt has declared that England’s bowling attack is superior than Australia.
Butt is impressed with the England bowling attack that they will unleash on the Aussies during the Ashes.
“Anderson stood out. He mainly created what happened here and there are not many bowlers in the world who can swing it both ways with as much control as that,” The Sunday Telegraph quoted Butt, as saying.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen him bowl with as much control and I think it shows that in these conditions England have a more dangerous attack than Australia,” he said.
Anderson had come under some pressure for his place following a lacklustre one-day series after being effectively dropped for the final one-day international against Bangladesh.
But an ankle injury to Ajmal Shahzad cleared the way for England to field an attack in this opening match of a four-Test series of Anderson, Steven Finn and Broad. It shows they also have depth for the upcoming tour.
Asked if Anderson and his Pakistani pacer Mohammed Asif were the two best swing bowlers in world cricket, Butt replied: “Yes, pretty much. In these conditions they are both very lethal. Any batsman needs only one ball to get dismissed. These conditions and these bowlers are not making it easy for them.” (ANI)
