Sydney, Nov 18(ANI): England batsmen Ian Bell scored a century while Paul Collingwood made a confident half-century to boost the visitors lead-up to the first Ashes Test.

Bell scored an unbeaten 121 off 158 balls with 15 fours and a six in England’s final warm-up game against Australia ‘A’ at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval on Thursday.

The 28-year-old shared an unbeaten 198 run sixth-wicket partnership with Collingwood (74 not out off 128 balls).

At stumps on day two, England were 335 for five with a lead of 105 runs with five wickets remaining in the first innings.

Earlier, in the day, resuming at 1-22, English vice-captain Cook, who had scored a century in the second innings against South Australia last week, went on to score 60 off 109 balls before falling to left-arm finger-spinner Stephen O’Keefe.

Nightwatchman Monty Panesar made his intentions clear, clubbing Clint McKay over mid-off for a boundary, but the Victorian had the last laugh in his next over, the Courier Mail reports.

The match has also proved pleasant for Jonathan Trott (41), as it was his highest score of the tour so far.

However, star batsman Kevin Pietersen missed out after being bowled by fast bowler Mark Cameron for five. (ANI)
