riceBloomberg, Feb 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Running back Emmett Smith and receiver Jerry Rice have been inducted into the Pro-Football Hall Of Fame. This is very significant for them, not only because it is a great honor to be inducted into the Pro-Football Hall Of Fame, but also because this is the first year that they have become eligible for the induction. The other player from the National Football League who have been selected, are running-back Floyd Little, offensive lineman Russ Grim, cornerback Dick LaBeau, linebacker Rickey Jackson and defensive lineman John Randle.

The voting for the induction took place on Saturday. The class for this year had been chosen by the selection committee of the Hall of Fame, consisting of 44 members. The selection had been made from a total of 17 finalists. The decision had been made at the Super Bowl in Miami. The actual induction ceremony will take place in Canton in Ohio, on Aug 7 this year.

Needless to say, it had been a very emotional moment for both the players, as they went up on stage to acknowledge their nomination. As Jerry Rice went up to deliver his acceptance speech, his eyes turned wet with tears, even as he confessed that he had been advised not to cry. He admitted that although he has been elected as one of the inductees in the Hall of Fame, he was not expecting it even on Draft Day. Emmett Smith too could not control his emotions. He had tears in his eyes as he spoke about his father, saying that he was actually fulfilling the dreams of his father. Both admitted that it was a great honor for them to have achieved “this level of greatness together.”
