‘El Salvador Vs Honduras’: Saturday’s Big Clash

Sep 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Honduras edged past El Salvador in the highly anticipated friendly clash between the two countries. The two teams proved to be at par at the end of the 90 minutes and the score remained tied at 2 goals each. The game then shifted to the penalty shootout where the Honduras goalkeeper Noel Valladares made two saves to secure victory for his team.
Both teams showed immense tenacity throughout the game and the game was the perfect entertainer for the soccer fans on Saturday night. For Honduras, the scorers were Oscar Bonieck Garcia and Roger Rojas. For El Salvador, both the goals came from their star player Rodolfo Zelaya. Though Honduras were in the lead till the end of the game, Rodolfo Zelaya ensured that his team plays till the penalty by converting a penalty comfortably in the final minutes of the game. The game then became poised for a penalty shootout.
The game however started well for El Salvador as Rodolfo Zelaya gave them an early lead by scoring in the 42nd minute. The equalizer came quickly from Oscar Bonieck Garcia as he curved in a shot in the 58th minute to bring his team back in the hunt. The El Salvador goalkeeper also made a shocking save in the 65th minute to ensure that the score remains tied. Roger Rojas, however, scored a stunning goal in the 86th minute. Rodolfo Zelaya would have remained the hero of the match if he could have converted the penalty in the shootouts. Noel Valladares recovered from an almost awkward angle to save the shot from Rodolfo Zelaya. Honduras started with five players from its World Cup squad which includes the match winning goalkeeper and the goalscorer Oscar Bonieck Garcia.
