Oct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Eddie Royal seemed set to go down in history when he returned a punt and a kickoff. Nothing unusual, except that it was in the same game.
The action took place at the Qualcomm Stadium. The match was held between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers lost 34-23 against the Broncos. With this match, the Broncos broke the winning spell that had kept the Chargers victorious for nearly three years. The star of the game was definitely Eddie Royal, who returned a punt and a kickoff in the game.
The Broncos got their first offensive touchdown late in the third quarter when Tony Scheffler got thrown a nineteen yard pass by Kyle Orton for a lead of 24-23. Matt Prater of Denver scored a field goal. Brandon Stokley made a five yard catch late in the game which was somewhat debated but the a review sustained it.
Eddie Royal once again delivered a brilliant performance steering his team to a historic win. However, that doesn’t come as much of a surprise when it comes from Eddie Royal. He was always a promising player. He was picked out of Virginia Tech last year. In his very first season, he played a fiery game. He set a number of records, namely, he was the first player in his team in a long time to run the long seventy yards. He was the one to do it after 1970. He also holds the record for the longest punt return, the longest kickoff return and the longest reception. Not only that, all three were in the same season. Monday’s game too saw him set up a record of sorts. He did not make any catches, but he more than made up for it.
