New Delhi, Oct 30 (IANS) East Bengal coach Trevor James Morgan was elated after his boys registered their 17th consecutive win beating Air India 4-1 in the quarter-final league of the Durand Cup here Saturday.

“Our 17th consecutive win was fabulous. But if we don’t win our next match it will not mean anything,” he said after the 16-time Durand Cup champions came from a goal down to register a great win at the Ambedkar Stadium here.

About the match, Morgan said: “It was a good match. We didn’t play well in the first 20 minutes and Air India attacked really well. But the goal by Tolgay (Uzbey) changed the tempo of the match.”

Australian striker Tolgay, who is of Turkish origin, struck twice (43rd, 71st) and Nigerians Ekene Ekenewa (88th) and Penn (90th) scored a goal apiece for the Federation Cup winners. Nigerian Yusuf Ibrahim Tijani scored for Air India, who suffered their second successive defeat in the league to bow out of the tournament.

“We played well in the second half and completely dominated the proceedings. We were good with the set-pieces, though we were unlucky. My boys fought hard for the win,” Morgan said.
