Dutchman Stevens to coach Bundesliga club Schalke
September 28th, 2011 - 2:51 pm ICT by IANSBerlin, Sep 28 (IANS) Bundesliga club Schalke signed coach Huub Stevens until 2013 as his predecessor Ralf Rangnick resigned due to burnout, the football club said Tuesday.
After a long back and forth, Dutchman Stevens returns to Schalke as he already coached the “Knappen” from 1996 to 2002. He is also the coach with the longest time in office at Schalke. Stevens’s last assignment was in Austria where he coach RB Salzburg to win the Austrian championship 2010.
“Huub Stevens was our preferred candidate. He was at Schalke where he had much success and I am confident that we can move forward with him,” member of the Schalke supervisory board Clemens Toennies was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
