Dutch league match suspended due to dense fog
November 21st, 2011 - 6:28 pm ICT by IANSThe Hague, Nov 21 (IANS) The Eredivisie match between Dutch leaders AZ Alkmaar and Excelsior in Rotterdam was suspended Sunday afternoon due to heavy fog.
Referee Kevin Blom decided to stop the match at halftime with the scoreline 0-0 after consulting both coaches, Xinhua reported.
Both AZ and Excelsior were barely able to build a decent attack and the referee and his assistants were not able to see clear. A new date for the remainder of the match will be set in a few days.
Earlier Sunday, Feyenoord surprised Vitesse with a 4-0 victory in Arnhem, ADO Den Haag drew 2-2 against FC Utrecht and FC Groningen beat VVV-Venlo 2-1.
