Dutch baseball star stabbed to death
November 22nd, 2011 - 3:41 am ICT by IANSThe Hague, Nov 22 (IANS) Dutch baseball player Gregory Halman, who plays for a US Major League Baseball team, has been stabbed to death, police said.
The 24-year-old Halman — who played for the Seattle Mariners — was found bleeding Monday from a stab wound when police arrived at his home in Rotterdam. They were unable to resuscitate the player.
His younger brother Jason has been arrested in connection with the incident, Xinhua reported.
At the age of 16, Halman made his debut in the Dutch league. After a successful year, he signed a contract with the Mariners.
He had been playing in the US for seven years. He made his debut in the major league in September 2010.
