Duluth Gears Up For Grandma’s Marathon

marathonDuluth, Minnesota, June 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the port city of Duluth in the state of Minnesota gears up for the Grandma’s Marathon on Saturday, anticipation among the athletes is also running extremely high who are all set to participate in the gala event. Large number of participants are expected to run in the race which would reaches its 34th year this time when the event finally commences on Saturday.

Like all the previous years, even this time around the Grandma’s Marathon is expected to turn into a huge success with large number of enthusiastic participants likely to attend the race. Apart from many new athletes from all across the world who would be arriving in the port city of Minnesota to take part in the event, expectations are extremely high from some of the participants who are known for their winning streak in race.

Last year’s winner Chris Raabe would be one such runners who would be participating in Saturday’s event with the aim of defending his title. Although the athlete is said to be suffering from certain injury issues, the American is likely to give his best shot in order to emerge victorious.

Mary Akor, the three time Grandma’s Marathon winner is another such participant who is expected to come with flying colors during Saturday’s race. The 33 year old athlete, who has been diagnosed with fibroid cancer in her uterus, will be running in this year’s Grandma’s Marathon despite her cancerous condition.

Mary Akor, who would be looking forward to win the race for the fourth consecutive time, has put her surgery on hold to participate in the race this year.
