Indianapolis, Apr 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Duke Bluedevils has brought glory to their name at the fourth national Basketball championship. Needless to say, the match that was played at the Lucas Oil Stadium was arguably the best in years. Lance Thomas, after his team won, expressed his thoughts at the gripping moment when Butler Bulldog’s Gordon Hayward went for his just short of a-miracle shot. The player said how his heart started pounding fast as Gordon Hayward went for his half the court midway attempt to score a basket.
That was a moment when things were far from settling the victory score to 61-59 on behalf of the Duke Bluedevils. In words of Mike Krzyzewski Dukes’ coach, he was getting ready to witness a miracle shot but at the end of his mind he prayed for no miracles to happen. Indeed his prayers were answered as Gordon Hayward’s desperate attempt hit the backboard of the basket and Butler’s dream shattered into pieces.
When asked about his thoughts on the moment, Nolan Smith the Duke Guard said that he was quite sure Gordon Hayward would shoot basket but when he failed, he was the happiest man standing. Brad Stevens was all in praises for Gordon Hayward and said he never believed that Dukes could have won till the very last moment when the ball failed to hit the basket. He told that with Gordon Hayward in the match, one must be ready for anything unbelievable to happen. Forward Matt Howard was standing helplessly in the half court as he witnessed how the ball was making its way towards the basket. He said that the shot was great attempt which could have only come from a player like Gordon Hayward.
