November 25th, 2011 - 9:03 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Nov 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The London police and military will not be leaving anything to chance during the next Olympic Games which will take place in the country, reports say. The country will be hosting the 2012 Games and the Metropolitan Police is reportedly in preparation to use Drones to patrol the skies. The reports say the unmanned plane will be fitted with sophisticated surveillance equipments to ensure that nothing escapes its view.
The hi-tech flyers will reportedly place the game village under surveillance. The country’s police is reportedly in talks with the Civil Aviation Authority to get the permission to use the airspace. The report has not been confirmed by the country’s security but this is not the first time that a drone will be used by the country’s police.
The Independent reports that the Essex Police has an expensive drone which is proving to be a waste of resources.
A source with knowledge of drones told the newspaper that, “Surveillance drones are not very high up on our priority list. They tend to be quite pricey and require a huge amount of training.”
The London Olympics 2012 will be held in Stratford. Officials expect millions of supporters to visit the city during the event which will be held in the summer.
