New Delhi, June 12 (IANS) Football fanatics not only in Delhi but across the nation are gearing up for Sunday’s much-awaited grand finale of the Pepsi T20 football tournament that will feature international sensation Didier Drogba.
The Ivorian will coach the tournament winners, who will then get to play an exhibition match with the stars of the Indian cricket team, among them M.S. Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and Murali Vijay.
While the winning team will be led by avid footballer and youth icon Ranbir Kapoor, Dhoni will front the Indian cricket team, which will be coached by Baichung Bhutia, the legend of Indian football.
“Pepsi’s first ever football campaign was launched in India with a fun and irreverent film featuring Ranbir Kapoor that set the tone for the real action. It was followed by a unique grassroots initiative, Pepsi T20 Football that took football outside the conventional domain, giving it a refreshing twist,” a company statement said.
“The initiative combined the excitement and fun of T20 style of playing cricket with the speed, thrill and spirit of football. Organized in a unique metallic cage, the 20-minute knock out matches were held in major Indian cities including Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow, Ludhiana and Delhi, with phenomenal response,” the statement added.
Online passes for the final are available at www.facebook.com/PepsiIndia.
