Drogba recovers from mild concussion
August 28th, 2011 - 7:26 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Aug 28 (IANS) Chelsea star Didier Drogba is likely to released from hospital Sunday after suffering “mild concussion” during the team’s 3-1 win over Norwich Saturday.
The club said that their medical staff would monitor the 33-year-old striker over the coming days. The Ivory Coast international underwent tests after suffering the concussion.
Drogba was knocked unconscious after he went up for an aerial challenge with Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy and landed in sickening fashion. He had to carried off wearing a breathing aid.
“The doctor did a great job. We hope for his well-being as a person first. He is showing progressive signs of recovery,” said Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas after the match.
“It looked pretty nasty. He lost consciousness completely on the pitch. I have to be very, very grateful, not only to my players but to the Norwich players and to my medical staff for reacting so quickly to a potentially dangerous situation,” he added.
