Double for Rajvirudhan, Feroz Khan in JK Tyre National Racing

Chennai, Sep 18 (IANS) Despite winning their respective races, Ameya Walavalkar of Mars Racing (Formula LGB Swift) and Vishnu Prasad (Polo R Cup) went under stewards’ scanner and typically, there was undue delay in final decisions being conveyed to the media as the fourth round of the JK Tyre National Racing championship concluded here Sunday.
While the stewards were kept busy with penalties being handed out for jump starts, exclusion and post-race scrutiny that could yet lead to changes in the final classifications, provisional results were declared, but there was no communication whatsoever on the reasons for the enquiries and subsequent delays in announcement of final results.
Meanwhile, Vijayakumar Rajvirtudhan of Prime Racing completed a double by winning the second race in the Super Saloon class as did Feroz Khan in the Indian Junior Touring Car category. Both had won the first outing Saturday.
Two Moto-Rev India drivers, Emmanuel Jebaraj and Emmanuel Clarke besides TVS Girling’s Gokul Krishna were excluded from the IJTC results that helped championship leader Diljit Shaji to move up to second place despite a 20-second penalty for jump start.
In the Polo R Cup series, Oshan Kothadiya of Pune took the honours in the first race, but in the second that started with a reverse grid for top eight finishers, championship leader Vishnu Prasad of Chennai came in first. However, the final classification was still to be declared pending a Stewards inquiry into Prasad’s alleged overtaking during a Safety car period.
Similarly, Walavalkar’s car was under investigation after he comfortably won the race. It was said that following the crash in the previous round last month, his car was repaired and the Stewards were checking the legality of the vehicle.
