dorell-stJuly 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Golden State Warriors fans were left with shock yesterday with Anthony Morrow joining New Jersey Nets. However, they can breathe in relief now as Miami Heat’s plus defender Dorell Wright is reported to join the team. The general manager of Golden State Warriors, Larry Riley said in a press conference that the team was close to a deal. The player will sign a three years deal with Golden State Warriors as a small forward and the deal has been finalized to $11 million.

The Golden State Warriors have also signed Reggie Williams as a small forward, Monta Ellis and Charlie Bell as shooting guard. Dorell Wright, 24, was the overall 19th selection out of high school in the 2004 draft. He averaged 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds for Miami last season and is considered a plus defender. A source close to Golden State Warriors confirmed that the team was counting on Dorell Wright for this season. With Dorell Wright in the team, Golden State Warriors have made it clear that the team will not call back their restricted free sharp shooting agent Anthony Morrow who will sign a deal of $12 million with New Jersey Nets tomorrow.

Dorell Wright’s best season was in 2007-2008 when he secured an average of 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25.1 minutes. Then he was on a leave for sometime due to his injury but managed to hit 7.1 points in 72 minutes and proved himself as a player worth competition. Golden Globe Warriors have high expectations from this small forward and they expect him to be their version of Bruce Bowen in their next season.
