donovan1Washington, Apr 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Philadelphia Eagles’ quarter back player Donovan McNabb, who had been playing for the team for the last eleven years was traded to Washington Redskins. The deal which was made public on the Easter Sunday had shocked many fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and game critics. However, Andy Reid maintained that such deals are part of the NFL and that the deal was signed keeping in mind the best interest of the player and the team.

In lieu of Donovan McNabb, the Philadelphia Eagles will be receiving two draft picks from the Washington Redskins. According to reports, Philadelphia Eagles will receive one draft pick this month while another will be taken from the third or the fourth draft pick of the 2011. Many are labeling the trade as the boldest till date by the Washington-Redskins coach Mike Shanahan. Mike Shanahan is the new coach of the team and is trying to get the team to the forefront. It seems that the coach has been focusing on the quarterback part as he had already signed free agent Rex Grossman as a backup. He has also been for some time now looking for the best quarterback draft pick this season. There is no doubt that he did not want to miss the chance of acquiring the 33 year old quarterback veteran.

The entry of Dovovan McNabb in the Washington Redskins will lead to some problem for Jason Campbell, who had remained the starter of the team for the last 3 and 1/2 years. Donovan McNabb however, reportedly mentioned to the media that he is excited to play for the new team and that he has enjoyed his years with the Philadelphia Eagles.
