Donald terrific asset to New Zealand’s World Cup campaign, says Parore
January 30th, 2011 - 3:52 pm ICT by ANIAuckland, Jan 30(ANI): Former New Zealand wicketkeeper Adam Parore believes that bowling coach Allan Donald is a terrific addition to the Black Caps team management ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
The former South African fast bowler was appointed as the bowling coach earlier this month, and had joined the team ahead of the ODI series against Pakistan.
“I had a fair bit to do with Donald when we played against South Africa, and he is a great bloke. So I’m sure he will fit in very well. Just having someone with his experience around the camp could do wonders,” Parore wrote in an article in the New Zealand Herald.
“Technically, it remains to be seen what he can get out of the New Zealand bowlers. But he will be able to help with issues such as knowing when to conserve your energy or to bowl flat out, and strategies of course,” he added.
Parore also reckons that Donald will quickly stamp his mark and demand the highest of standards from the bowling unit.
“The South Africans were seen as the best reverse swing bowlers outside of Pakistan and Donald - who was frighteningly quick - knew what he was up to there,” Parore wrote.
“If we can learn the art, our World Cup chances will increase,” he added.
Earlier, Donald had said that he wants to install motivation and aggression in the Kiwi bowlers. (ANI)
