Donald moves a step closer to becoming world’s top golfer
April 23rd, 2011 - 8:16 am ICT by ANISouth Carolina (US), Apr. 23 (ANI): Britain’s Luke Donald has moved a step closer to becoming the world’s top golfer by grabbing the halfway lead at The Heritage Classic in the USA.
Donald, currently ranked three behind Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood, shot a second-round 65 in South Carolina, The Sun reports.
He will jump to the top with a win at Harbour Town Golf Links - no matter how Westwood does this weekend at the Indonesian Masters.
Donald, 33, finished on a 10-under total of 132 for a one-shot lead over Garrett Willis.
Meanwhile, Westwood continued his bid to regain the world No 1 spot after a birdie blitz in Jakarta, but was stopped in his tracks by lightning. He was tied with the clubhouse leaders on nine under par with two holes left after seven birdies when he was forced off. (ANI)
