brain1Columbus, Ohio, Mar 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lady luck was surely not smiling at American martial artist Brian Bowles during his bout with Dominick Cruz at WEC 47 at the Nationwide Arena on Saturday, as he suffered the first defeat of his career. The 29 year old fighter not only lost to his opponent in the much anticipated fight, he was also left with a hand injury after the conclusion of the bout.

Dominick Cruz registered a convincing victory over Brian Bowles during last night’s showdown which enabled him to win the World Extreme Cagefighting bantamweight title. As the fight commenced, it appeared that it would be a close one between the two fighters as both looked extremely confident in the first round. Although Brian Bowles was thrashed to the floor by his opponent, he soon recovered despite bleeding from his nose. However, Dominick Cruz continued to dominate his opponent with successive punches and kicks which left Brian Bowles rather confused about the techniques that he should undertake in order to gain control over the bout. However, he did not have much to do as Dominick Cruz concluded the round with a touchdown.

However, just as the large number of crowd was gearing up for the third round, it came to light that Brian Bowles would not be able to continue with the fight given the injured status of his hand, which was left swollen after the fight. In an interview, the defeated martial artist later revealed that his hand was left wounded while he delivered his first punch, which was one of the very few punches that he managed to deliver in the bout.
