New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS) India’s Dinesh Kumar (81kg) moved into the second round of World Boxing Championships with a 20:8 win over Nepal’s Deepak Maharajan at Baku, Azerbaijan, Wednesday.

Dinesh, a silver medallist in the 2010 Asian Games, made it look like a one-sided affair and became the fourth Indian after Devendro Singh (49kg), Suranjoy Singh (52kg) and Akhil Kumar (56kg) to qualify for the round of 32.

According to information received here, the 25-year-old Indian dominated the proceedings right from the start with the help of some hard hitting blows and took a 10:3 lead in the first round. The World No.12 continued to dictate terms throughout the rest of the game, giving the Nepalese only a few chances to score.

In the second round clash slated for Sunday, Dinesh will face Bosko Draskovic of Montenegro. Draskovic defeated Maxwell Amponsah of Ghana.

Dinesh is making his second appearance at the World Championships. In the previous edition at Milan in 2009, he made it to the quarterfinal stage before being defeated by eventual gold medal winner Artur Beterbiev of Russia.
