devinFoxboro, Apr 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The NFL draft 2010 has begun with the expected gusto and all the 32 teams are in search for the best player for their team. The New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick on Thursday during the 27th selection of the NFL draft picked Rutgers corner-back Devin McCourty. However, the ultimate settlement seems to be worthy as Devin McCourty has to his credit a good season play. For a 40 yards dash last year he had posted a timing of 4.42 seconds.

Devin McCourty after the selection revealed to the media that he had earlier this month had a discussion with the coach of the Rutgers, Bill Belichick in the Rutgers’ campus. However, the meeting was not a formal one and the player revealed that he and Bill Belichick watched movies together. The player seemed satisfied with the pick and mentioned to the media that he is happy to be a “Patriot”.

Devin McCourty has in overall played 52 college games and to his credit has 6 interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and two-and-half sacks. He has made 80 tackles and has managed to block seven kicks overall. Devin McCourty now hopes to make it big in the new team. The Rutgers coach Greg Schiano mentioned that the first round pick of Devin McCourty is enough to indicate not only the kind of player he is but also points towards his work ethic and ability as a player. When asked by the reporters about the kind of player Devin McCourty considers himself, he replied that he is a kind of player who would never like to miss an opportunity and compete in every chance he is provided with.
