Twins Tigers BaseballDetroit, Sep 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to sources, the Detroit Tigers maintained their two game lead against their rivals Minnesota in the American League Central after pitcher Justin Verlander steered the team to a 6-5 victory on Tuesday. The win marks Detroit’s 2 game lead over Minnesota with two games left in the series and as many as five games to go in the season.

The Detroit pitcher, Verlander put up a stunning performance that paved the road to victory for the Tigers. The Minnesota Twins had taken the earlier game 3-2 in order to cut down the margin in the division to one, but Verlander’s eight hits proved to be match winning ones for the Tigers. Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth for his 36th save of the year after he allowed Minnesota to pull in within a run. But it was Verlander’s sheer brilliance which helped the Tigers to pull off a victory against Minnesota. “We love when Verlander is out there. He has been a bull dog for us and whenever he is pitching you are always going to have a chance to win,” the third baseman of the Detroit, Brendon Inge told the media. “We know the standings and that Minnesota is going to be in it. This is as much as of a play off game as you are going to get in the regular season,” he added.

Tuesday’s game was quite a breath taking one for the viewers present at the stadium as both the teams battled it out till the end. Expressing their disappointment over the lost match the Minessota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said, “We got the first one, wanted the second one really bad but faced a really good pitcher. This is not for what we came here today. We will be back tomorrow and I can promise you that.”
