Bangalore, March 17 (IANS) Opening batsman Naman Ojha scored a brisk century and Rudra Pratap Singh bagged five wickets to help Central Zone beat North Zone by 70 runs in a league match of the Deodhar Trophy tournament in Monday. Central Zone, asked to bat first by North xaptain Virender Sehwag, posted 293 for three wickets in 50 overs, thanks to Ojha’s 110 off 130 balls, comprising 10 fours and two sixes. Then a fit-again Singh captured five for 36 to help bowl out North for 223 in 42.2 overs for victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the other match, teenaged Ajinkya Rahane hit a 72-ball 60 to help West Zone by six wickets with 64 balls remaining in Hyderabad.
Choosing to bat, East Zone were all out for 225 in 49.2 overs, with Saurabh Tiwary scoring a top score of 65 off 58 balls. Iqbal Abdulla and Ajit Agarkat bagged two wickets apiece.
In reply, West Zone scored 226 for four wickets in 39.2 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad.
