Denmark cooking up sensation for Germany: Eriksen

Lviv (Ukraine), June 17 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Rising Danish star Christian Eriksen is sure that his team can pull off another shock result against Germany Sunday.

Denmark are sure of a place in the quarterfinals if they win against Germany, while a draw could also spell success if Portugal beat the Netherlands in the other game.

Denmark has already delivered one of the tournament’s biggest shocks by beating the Dutch 1-0 last week.

“As a team we hope to cause another sensation, but on a personal level it could be the last chance I get here to show what I can do,” Eriksen said on the UEFA website.

“Everything has gone so fast, and suddenly people get expectations of me.”

“I think it’s quite crazy when you think about it. 20 years old and I already have 25 caps.”

The midfielder, who made his debut in 2010, has scored two goals for Denmark, but is yet to find the back of the net at Euro 2012.

Eriksen feels he has not shown his true potential yet.

“I expected to play better, but we at least have a successful team, and that’s what matters most,” Eriksen said.

Denmark won Euro 92 in Sweden, but has since made the knockout stages only once, and failed to qualify for the 2008 tournament.
