July 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Monday, at the Angel Stadium at Anaheim, David Ortiz proved yet another time that he can be counted as one of the top hitters in Major League baseball. The hitter who made it to the list of one of the top hitters on the baseball league came up with some real play and scored 32 homers in total. While he lagged behind in the first round where he managed only eight homers, it was in the next two rounds that David Ortiz showed his true color and went on hitting the homers above the right-field wall.
Undoubtedly David Ortiz’s performance increased the credential of the player who had gone through some rough patches in his professional life. The player managed 21 homers in the first two rounds and it was his amazing 11 homers in the third round that sealed the victory in his favor. There are very few people till date who have been able to reach the two digit homer in the final round of the Home Run Derby.
David Ortiz seemed to be in complete control of the shots he delivered. To the fastball delivered by the New York Yankee’s bench coach Tony Pena, David Ortiz delivered some amazing homers and left behind all other competitors. However, this time some of the top hitters of the major league baseball or one time champions did not compete for the trophy. This time out of the total eight participating hitters, five were competing for the first time. For David Ortiz it was his fourth appearance in Home Run Derby and his first trophy. He had reached the semifinal back in 2005.
