David Hussey hopes England ODI series ‘kick-starts’ his career
January 24th, 2011 - 3:56 pm ICT by ANISydney, Jan 24 (ANI): Australian all-rounder David Hussey is confident that his performance in the ongoing seven-match ODI series against England will ‘kick-start his career’ going into the 50-over World Cup in the Indian sub-continent.
Hussey, who was recalled to the Australia one-day outfit after 18 months, scored an unbeaten 68 to guide his team to victory in the third ODI in Sydney on Sunday.
“When I first started out, I didn’t really crack the one-day arena. But hopefully this innings kick-starts my little career going into the World Cup and hopefully a few more match-winning innings will come,” Fox Sports quoted Hussey, as saying.
The 33-year-old also backed his brother Michael, who is currently recuperating from a hamstring surgery, to feature in the World Cup.
“I know he’ll be very diligent in what he needs to do in his rehabilitation,” Hussey said.
“And I’m sure he’ll be fit and healthy in the shortest amount (of time) possible because he loves playing cricket and wants to get back there as soon as possible. He lives for a Word Cup, he lives to play cricket,” he added. (ANI)
