Dan Mullen To Replace Urban Meyer As Florida Gators Coach?

Urban MeyerDec 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With Urban Meyer stepping down as the head coach of the Florida Gators, speculations are ripe in the football circles regarding who would be his successor. Sources close to the Florida Gators team officials have revealed that the search to find a replacement to Urban Meyer would commence without any delay and it is likely to take something a period of more than two weeks. Although intrinsic details continues to remain sketchy, insiders say that Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen appears to be one of the front-runners to succeed the 46-year-old Florida Gators coach.

However, details about whether Dan Mullen has been officially approached to replace Urban Meyer and assume the coaching responsibilities of Florida has not been available as yet. The Mississippi State head coach is, reportedly, also being eyed by Miami and whether, whether Florida Gators ultimately zeros in on Dan Mullen is something that remains to be seen. Apart from the Mississippi State head coach, the other contenders who are likely to be considered for the position is Louisville’s Charlie Strong.

While talking about the recruiting process that would be undertaken by the team, Florida athletics director Jeremy Foley said that the team would hire a new coach immediately and he would be meeting up with Urban Meyer assistants shortly. Urban Meyer who led the team to two national titles made the announcement that he is resigning from his position in a bid to spend more time with his family. Urban Meyer’s announcement that she is quitting the job of Florida Gators coach marks his second resignation from the team in less than a year.
