London, Apr 22 (ANI): Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has said the club faces its most crucial summer in years, and warned that the emergence of new players cannot be used as an excuse for not splashing out cash.

Dalglish knows that wholesale changes are needed in the close season to mount a genuine chase for titles.

“The better the business, the more successful the club is going to be. That doesn’t just mean buying players and letting others go, it’s about developing what else you have. This summer is going to be very important,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“It’s important there’s room for development of players but it’s also important you don’t use it as an excuse not to spend,” Dalglish said.

Dalglish’s caretaker role is set to become permanent and he and director of football Damien Comolli have already drawn up a summer hit list.

That includes such names as Ashley Young, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, Gary Cahill and Mamadou Sakho. (ANI)
