London, Mar 7 (ANI): Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was treated to the most emotional day of his life when midway through the second half against Manchester United, fans rose as one to sing Happy Birthday to him.

Dalglish turned 60 last Friday. He said: “These supporters have always been fantastic to me and my family and it was a bit emotional when they started singing that.”

“I don’t know how long this birthday is going to last. I will be 70 by the time it’s finished! But I don’t think they would have done that if we’d been losing,” he said.

Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-1 in their Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Dalglish further said: “Everyone who supports Liverpool has had a great day and it’s down to that performance. I thought the way they went about it - their attitude, commitment, desire to get a result - were fantastic. The great pride they showed in playing for the club and themselves is the reason they got it.”

“Everyone giving everything they have is what you need to beat United and they did that, so great credit to them. They were all outstanding in different ways. Dirk will get the headlines and Luis played really well but the rest were not that far behind.

“It’s a great victory for us, very important for us. We all know United are a great benchmark and their season isn’t finished yet,” Dalglish added. (ANI)
