CWG tennis: Sania-Chakravarthi win bronze

New Delhi, Oct 10 (IANS) India’s Sania Mirza and Rushmi Chakravarthi won the bronze in the tennis women’s doubles at the Commonwealth Games, beating compatriots Nirupama Sanjeev and Poojashree Venkatesha 6-4, 6-2 here Sunday.

Sania settled for a silver in the women’s singles Saturday night after losing 3-6, 6-2, 6-7(3) to Australia’s Anastasia Rodionova.

Sania and Rushmi had lost their doubles semifinals to Australia’s Rodionova and Sally Peers 4-6, 4-6 Saturday night.

Nirupama and Poojashree went down to Australia’s Olivia Rogowska and Jessica Moore 7-5, 3-6, 5-7 in the semifinals.
