Current Pak team not good enough for international cricket: Mudassar Nazar

Dubai, Nov 5(ANI): Former Pakistani opening batsman Mudassar Nazar insists that the recent poor results of the national team reflects that the team is not one of the best outfits in recent times.

Pakistan currently trails the five-match ODI series being played against South Africa in the United Arab Emirates 2-1.

“Every time we lose we look for excuses, that the spot-fixing allegations are affecting the players, there are groups in the team and this and that happened, but the fact is that the team is not good enough,” the Daily Times quoted Mudassar, as saying.

Mudassar, who is currently a coach at the ICC Global Academy in Dubai, also made it clear that there were problems with the composition of the ODI team for the series against South Africa.

“You need more impact players in the team, players who are different in style, method and the way they approach the game. That is the key to success,” Mudassar said.

“Winning or losing is a habit, and unfortunately, we have lost so many times that it has become a habit for our team. It is never easy to get out of this habit and, for this to happen, some of the senior players need to put up their hands and take on the responsibility,” he added.

He further rubbished reports that there were groups and differences in the team.

“They are people, who, whenever they want to change the captain or have changes in the team, go on about differences in the team. I think 90 percent of the time this is not correct,” Mudassar said.

“We are losing because we are not playing well and are not good enough at the moment.” He added. (ANI)
