London, Mar 4(ANI): England striker Peter Crouch, who scored twice to help England to a 3-1 victory against African champions Egypt at Wembley stadium, reckons his performance will make manager Fabio Capello to think about his final team for this summer’s World Cup.

Crouch, who came in as a supersub in the second half and sparked an England fightback, said: “I just hope I gave the manager something to think about. All I can do is, when I’m given a chance, try and take it.”

“You can only try to do your best, and that’s what I did,” The Sun quoted Crouch, as saying.

Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan’s 23rd-minute strike gave the visitors a deserved half-time lead, but England finally found their fluency after Crouch and Michael Carrick came on at the break.

Crouch levelled in the 56th minute before fellow sub Shaun Wright-Phillips put them in front in the 75th minute.

Crouch sealed England’s 500th international victory with his 20th goal in 37 caps in the 80th minute and Capello highlighted what the Tottenham striker brings to the team.

“I said to the players to press more to win the ball back quickly and in the second half we did that,” Capello said.

Crouch is a big option for me because sometimes you can play long ball. Today we didn’t, and he played very well with one touch, two touches. In the second half he made the difference,” he added. (ANI)
