Karachi, Jan 23 (ANI): Two senior Pakistan Cricket Board officials — Javed Miandad and Saleem Altaf — seems to be on a collision course, suggesting the emergence in the functioning of the Board.

PCBs Director General Miandad on Thursday appeared to be an unhappy man when his name was not included in the organising committee for the final one-dayer between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Lahore on January 24, The News reported.

Miandad, who was at the forefront of the organising team for the first two one-dayers in Karachi, said, I wont be going to Lahore to witness the series final as Ive nothing to do in Lahore.

Miandad said that he was exhausted after conducting back-to-back games in Karachi on January 20 and 21 and wanted to relax for a few days, but said that he was irked by the PCBs decision to overlook him for inclusion in the organising committee.

I dont know who formed that committee, but it feels bad that theyve ignored me, he said.

The former Pakistan captain said that he might tell PCB chairman Ijaz Butt that he will not get involved in next months Test series against Sri Lanka either.

In the PCB chain of command, Miandad is number two after Butt, but he has been sidelined to the extent that he was not even consulted while preparing the central contracts for leading national cricketers earlier this month.

According to sources in PCB, Miandad and Saleem Altaf, the Boards Chief Operating Officer, are not getting along.

Altaf was initially named as the Boards Director General, but later Butt replaced him with Miandad. A former Test pacer, Altaf was reappointed as COO.

Sources said that both Miandad and Altaf want to be at the helm of national cricket affairs. Though Butt had issued an internal memo that Miandad is his second in command, it is Altaf who has been running the affairs of the Board, said sources. (ANI)
