Patna, May 8 (ANI): The workers of Communist Party of India (Marxist And Leninist) took out a protest march in Patna on Thursday to show solidarity with the teachers who are demanding regular pay and permanent jobs.

Speaking to media, Anita Sinha, member of working committee of the party, said that the protesters are out to get justice for the teachers who are working on non-permanent basis and have not been getting their salaries on regular basis.

“We are taking out this protest against the atrocities committed by the Nitish Government (the state government headed by Nitish Kumar) on teachers a couple of days back. We demand that the teachers working on casual basis should be made permanent and payments should be made on a regular basis,” said Anita Sinha.

The protesters, braving the hot mid-day sun carried placards, banners and shouted slogans in favour of their demands.

On Tuesday (May 06), the state police baton charged a group of teachers working on ad hoc basis, who had come out on streets seeking permanent job status and financial assistance for their institutions so that they could get their salaries on a regular basis.

Such protests are quite common in India, where lack of proper infrastructure forces educational institutions to employ teachers on an ad-hoc basis with irregular salaries. (ANI)
