Court dismisses Lalit Modi’s petition
September 15th, 2010 - 4:46 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Sep 15 (IANS) The Bombay High Court Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by suspended IPL chief Lalit Modi seeking reconstitution of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) disciplinary committee that is probing allegations of his financial misconduct in the Twenty20 League, a lawyer said.
“The Bombay High Court has dismissed the petition where Modi had asked for recusal of two panel members - Arun Jaitley and Chirayu Amin,” Modi’s lawyer Mehmood Abdi said.
In his petition, Modi had claimed that Jaitley and Amin were biased against him and had sought a stay of the committee’s proceedings till Sep 13.
A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud maintained that Modi could raise the issue of bias at a later state while challenging the final decision of the disciplinary committee and the BCCI.
In July, Modi had also filed a petition on the same grounds but another division bench of Justices B.H. Marlapalle and Roshan Dalvi had refused to interfere in the proceedings of the disciplinary committee and dismissed the plea.
