concept1shoeOct 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a latest development the NBA has imposed a ban on the use of Concept 1 shoes for the 2010-11 Season. The footwear has been created by the Althletic Propulsion Labs. It is quite an unexpected move as the NBA had never stopped the players from wearing the $300 sneakers in its 64 year old history. The shoemakers claim that the shoes have been designed in such a way that the wearer can jump higher compared to those who wear conventional shoes. The NBA clarified its move saying that the league rule mentions the players would not be permitted to wear shoes that give them undue advantage on the field.

Althletic Propulsion Labs was set up by twins Ryan Goldston and Adam Goldston both of whom were part of USC basketball walk-ons. They come from a family that has a deep relation with shoe industry. The company is based in Los Angeles. The brothers said that a number of NBA players are interested in using the Concept 1 shoes. However, they refused to divulge the name of those players since they are now signed with other brands. The company is now looking into some athletic footwear as well as sporting goods retailers for expansion.

As per the website of the Athletic Propulsion Lab the shoe weighs just 15 ounces. The company claims that the shoe is composed of technologically advanced materials and that gives it the edge over other sports shoes available in the market nowadays. While NBA has banned it, there is a possibility that the shoe will be lapped up by the athletes belonging to other organizations.
