USA vs MexicoOn Wednesday night 6 teams remained on field to fight for the CONCACAF World Cup. The U.S. Vs Mexico match took most of the attention with Mexico gaining a 2-1 victory over Americans; but the matches Tobago Vs El Salvador and Honduras vs Costa Rica were also eminent.

Mexico and PSV Eindhover defender Carlos Salcido said, “We found it very difficult to settle on the field in the opening minutes and the U.S. took advantage.” The U.S. seemed to be gaining edge over the match in 9 minutes with Charlie Davies shooting an attack from the left but it took Mexico mere 10 minutes to get a grip of the situation and get a tie with a long-range kick coming from Israel Castro. Mexico then became confident and built its offensive play strategy thus clinching a well deserved victory over the United States. Auguirre said everybody on his team would go to bed a bit more relaxed and said it was time “to celebrate, drink a few tequilas and then get back to work.”

Honduras had a major victory over Costa Rica and made it clear that it was heading towards a semi-final qualification with a 4-0 score. Carlos Pavon and Melvin Valladares scored the goals for Honduras. Honduras is now above U.S on goal difference and 2 points behind Ticos.

For Trinidad it was the first win amongst all the 6 games it had played. Trinidad beat El Salvador to gain the fifth position in Hasley Crawford Stadium this Wednesday.

All eyes are set on the forthcoming matches which promises to be quite enthralling.
