‘Comeback man’ Mills eager to prove a point in T20 World Cup
April 23rd, 2010 - 7:05 pm ICT by ANIChristchurch, Apr 23(ANI): New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Mills is eager to put a frustrating summer behind him, and perform well in the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.
Mills will be making a comeback after missing the entire international and domestic schedule after undergoing shoulder and knee surgery.
“It’s been quite hard to rehab the knee and shoulder at the same time,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Mills, as saying.
“If I just had shoulder surgery I could keep running, but I had to lay off because of my leg. Then I couldn’t do a lot of weights. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride because we’ve pushed it (rehab) pretty hard,” he added.
Though the 31-year-old proved his fitness during the training camp held in Brisbane, he believes that it will take time to rediscover his form.
“It’s been good to get bowling again and get back into the team environment. It will take a wee bit of time to get back into the rhythm of playing international cricket,” Mills said.
“If it was a one-day World Cup I probably wouldn’t be ready. It’s only four overs, but it’s an intense sort of game. They (batsmen) come after you, you have to be on your toes with every ball,” he added. (ANI)
