colinDubai, Feb 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After a cascade of scandals that came out of Tiger Woods’ closet, focus finally seems to be back to the fact that he was, and still is, one of the greatest golfers of this era. Now that the Ryder Cup is knocking on the doors, the world’s number one golfer is conspicuous in his absence. Following the revelations of the great sexual escapades of Tiger Woods, he has remained in hiding, and the implications of the fact that he would not be present in the great golfing event has just begun to sink in, as can be judged from the comments of Colin Montgomerie, captain of the European team.

Colin Montgomerie commented that the absence of Tiger Woods from the Ryder Cup will have the effect of turning it into a “diminished event.” The Ryder Cup has been scheduled to be held in the October of this year. He also commented it would have been better for the event as a whole if Tiger Woods had been able to take part in it. He also commented that the absence of Tiger Woods in the Ryder Cup would be diminishing the competition in the event by a significant percentage.

The European captain expressed hopes that Tiger Woods would be taking part in the Ryder Cup, because that would increase the visibility of the event manifold, and it is common knowledge that any occasion that the golfer takes part in automatically becomes “bigger and better.” However, he left it to the American team and Tiger Woods himself, of course, to decide whether he should be back in the golf course in this year’s Ryder Cup or not.
