Clean sweep for Team Mohite in Karting Challenge

Coimbatore, July 13 (IANS) Team Mohite Racing Academy’s Ameya Walavalkar, Chitesh Mandody and Dhruv Mohite raced to victories in the senior, junior and Micro Max categories, respectively, in the third round of the JK Tyre Rotax Mojo Max Karting Challenge at the Kari Motor Speedway here Sunday. Team Mohite’s dominance was more in evidence in the junior section as they achieved a 1-2-3 sweep.

In the senior category, Mumbai’s Walavalkar came up with a fine start as he shot past pole sitter Rayomand Banajee. Thereafter, the two were involved in a fascinating tussle till the very end when unfortunately for Banajee, his vehicle stalled a few metres before the finish line.

G.R.Shankar Narayanan of Team Meco Racing thus finished second while Kolkata lad and Team Amaron racer Karan Goenka came in third.

In the junior race, Team Mohite karters were unstoppable with Kolhapur’s Chitesh notching up his first win of the season.

Starting second on the grid, the youngster who has already had two second place finishes this season, was locked in a keen battle with team-mate Samyak Shah from Mumbai for the top slot. Despite Samyak’s best efforts, he could not prevent Chitesh from pipping him to the post a fraction ahead.

Chennai lad Vishnu Prasad had to be content with a third place finish. .

Meanwhile, Dhruv Mohite from Kolhapur continued his dominating run to win the 15-lap race in the Micro Max category. Consistency has been 10-year old Dhruv’s forte this season.

Starting from pole position, Dhruv, the fifth standard student, shot into the lead and held on till the end to wind up a very successful weekend.

Another promising kid on the block, Bangalore’s Arjun Maini from Team Meco Motorsports did well to finish second. Krishna Mahadik of Team Mohite from Kolhapur finished a distant third.
