Clarke says if people don’t like me so be it

Melbourne, Mar 13 (ANI): Australian vice captain Michael Clarke is unfazed by what critics say about that he needs an urgent makeover to inherit the national captaincy from Ricky Ponting.

“People are entitled to their own opinion. If people feel that way about me, or don’t like the person I am, or they judge me, they are entitled to that. But the people who make that assumption don’t know me,” Clarke said.

“The frustrating thing for me is that the media keep blaming the public or saying the public have this perception of me. If I read something in the paper every day, I’d believe it as well, so the media have played a big part in that,” The Daily Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

“I speak to people at Cricket Australia, who do research and surveys before we have our marketing contracts and you will find they disagree strongly [with the claim he is unpopular with cricket fans]. That doesn’t seem to get written,” Clarke said.

“I’m proud of the way my family brought me up. The people who know me will disagree with a lot of what is said, but I accept it is part of what we do. You are in the spotlight, people want to know about your personal life, and I can’t change it, I won’t try and change it,” he said.

“But I’m just living my life. It’s not a practice run, you only get one shot at life and I’m enjoying mine. I want to be true to myself,” he said. (ANI)
