Clarke expects close Test series against Pakistan
July 12th, 2010 - 4:44 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 12 (ANI): Australia batsman Michael Clarke is expecting a tight Test series against Pakistan following his side’s 2-0 defeat in the Twenty20 series.
Clarke, who captained the side in Twenty20s, believes that England’s weather conditions would suit Pakistan’s fast-bowling attack, which consists of Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif and teenage sensation Mohammad Aamir.
“If it’s overcast in England, it generally swings all day. Pakistan’s bowling was outstanding again. I think we can learn a lot from the way they bowl at the death. Umar Gul is outstanding and they are going to be tough opposition in the Tests,” The Dawn quoted Clarke, as saying.
“They are going to have a very good attack so our batters are going to have be at our best. I imagine they will get the Duke ball to swing in conditions, which, if it is overcast, are going to be quite tough. I think we are going to be in for a really good Test series,” he added.
The Ricky Ponting led team will start their campaign with Tuesday’s opening Test at Lord’s.
Pakistan have not defeated Australia in their past 15 Tests, their last success being a 74-run win in Sydney in November 1995. (ANI)
