City will tear down Man U’s banner counting trophy drought: Mancini

London, Apr 18 (ANI): Roberto Mancini has warned Manchester United that his team is ready to tear down their famous banner by lifting a trophy after a gap of 34 years.

The ticker at Old Trafford, which counts the years since the Blues’ last major trophy triumph that came in 1976, torments City fans.

Mancini said: “Soon I think they can take off this banner - we hope we can take it off this year. This is important because our mentality will be more strong now because we beat United.”

“United played with their best team - without Rooney but we played without Tevez. So I feel this was important,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“You can win against them only if you play very strong and fully concentrated. They win matches because they are the more experienced. But if we work we can ‘arrive’ very close with them,” he added.

Midfielder Nigel de Jong will use his World Cup final pain to make sure City finish the job and lift the cup when they face Stoke at Wembley on May 14. (ANI)
