Christiano Ronaldo sold to Real Madrid

Christiano Ronaldo might be bidding adieu to the red jersey of Manchester United soon. On Thursday, officials from Manchester United said that they have received a bid of 80 million pound ($ 131.2 million) on Ronaldo. The bidder is of course, Real Madrid.

This from Real comes just days after they snatched away Kaka from AC Milan. Though it was earlier stated that it was impossible for the club officials at Real to have both the Ballon d’Or winners in the same season, the stage now seems to be set for the same. A statement on the Man U website read, “At Christiano’s request- who has again expressed his desire to leave- and after discussions with the player’s representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player. Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice.”

It seems that Florentino Perez is really pushing all boundaries to fulfill his cherished dream after all- the dream of having on-board Real, all the “world’s greats”. The bid offered by Real to Manchester United for Ronaldo is a record-holder for now. It is the highest a club has ever offered for the transfer of a single player from another club!

Within a span of just four days, the Spanish club has dished out a record $ 159 million in order to transfer 2 players, Kaka and Ronaldo. The 24 year old Portuguese was set for a transfer last year too. That time though, it did not happen. Real can increase its stake even higher this week if it goes onto purchase the Spanish striker David Villa from Valencia.
