Chris Lannetta Denver, Sep 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The American born pinch-hitter Chris Lannetta hit a two-run homer off David Weathers in the 11th inning to give the Colorado Rockies a 7-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

The huge crowd of over forty thousand people, let loose a loud cheer when the Braves’ 5-4 loss to the Marlins was announced on the scoreboard in the middle of the sixth.

Colorado owns a three-game advantage over the Braves for the National League wild card with five games still remaining. So the Rockies’ magic number is three, which means they need to go just 3-2 to clinch a playoff berth. A 2-3 mark would guarantee them at least a tie, resulting in a play-in game in Atlanta.

“We are in the driver’s seat,” Chris Lannetta said. “We are in a good position.”

The 1983 born Lannetta was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 4th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. He played the majority of the 2006 season with Double-A Tulsa Drillers before being promoted to the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Chris Lannetta was then promoted to the majors in late August.

He collected his first career hit against the San Diego Padres, in late August 2006.
