Chris Jakubauskas Suffers Injury Against Houston Astros

Chris JakubauskasHouston, Apr 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Pittsburgh Pirates player Chris Jakubauskas received injury in the game against the Houston Astros on Saturday due to which he had to be taken off the field. The 31 year old pitcher was struck by Lance Berkman’s line drive during the first innings of the game as the player was making his first start of the season. Soon after being hit, the pitcher was taken to a nearby medical facility where certain tests were reportedly carried out.

The incident occurred during Saturday’s game as Lance Berkman drove a 1-0 pitch which hit the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher in his head. Just after being hit, Chris Jakubauskas collapsed into the ground in visible pain and took five minutes before he could even sit up in the field. The medical staffs of both the teams rushed to his rescue and a ice pack was given to him that provided him temporary relief. After David Lintner, the doctor of the Houston Astros team examined the pitcher briefly, Chris Jakubauskas was taken to the Methodist Hospital where the player was reportedly was kept overnight for observation. Meanwhile, the crowd which had gathered to witness the game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Houston Astros were left a bit disappointed as Chris Jakubauskas had to leave the game midway although he received a standing ovation from the crowd.

However, the bad news for the Pittsburgh Pirates did not just end here as the Houston Astros registered a 5-2 win against the opponents in the much anticipated showdown on Saturday. Yesterday’s game surely turned out to be anything but enjoyable for all the Pittsburgh Pirates fans.
